Sometimes when I’m tired, stressed, worried, or just troubled, I try and find an exceptionally tall tree. If there’s a grove of trees, I single out the tallest among them. Then I try and see if I can spot it’s highest-most leaf. I mean the one leaf that is at the very very tippy-top of the tree. And when I find that leaf, I like to imagine how that leaf feels.
And everything...

Last night there was a storm.
With rain.
It was a great blessing to many in my area.
I spent most of it watching television late into the night, and my cat spent most of it freaking out.
When it first began, she came into the room that I refer to as “The One With the T.V. and Chair”, and she would walk along in a low crouched position. As if she needed to make her way to me, but felt that traveling as low to...

Trying really hard to have sympathy.
And be understanding
And patient
But all I keep screaming in my head is:
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD YOU WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!

Deep breaths.
Have sympathy. And understanding. And...

As part of my education, my pastor has invited me to sit in on various board/committee meetings. This evening was a fairly major administrative board meeting, that is only really held once every...

kenopsia
dictionaryofobscuresorrows:
n. the eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that’s usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet—a school hallway in the evening, an unlit office on a weekend, vacant fairgrounds—an emotional afterimage that makes it seem not just empty but hyper-empty, with a total population in the negative, who are so conspicuously absent they glow like neon signs.

Watch Thor (2011), for the first time. (Note: I’ve previously never been very interested in seeing it, despite my love for cinematic superheroes. I don’t know why I want to see it now of all times, but I do. I really do.)
Drink a lot of wine. Or a little bit of wine. I just want some wine.
